My Space, My Support, My Future

At Oak Care Home, young people live in a safe, supportive environment that helps them build confidence and independence.

Each young person has their own fully furnished bedroom, including a bed, storage, desk, heating, and Wi-Fi. Rooms are private, lockable, and can be personalised to feel like home.

Shared spaces include a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living area, clean bathrooms, and on-site laundry facilities. Young people are supported to develop everyday life skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and self-care.

The Living Room – A Space to Relax Together

When I move in, I get my own private bedroom where I can feel safe and comfortable. My room comes fully furnished, including a bed and mattress, wardrobe and storage, chest of drawers, desk and chair, and a TV for relaxing in my own space.

My room has heating, good lighting, and Wi-Fi, so I can rest, study, watch TV, and stay connected. The door can be locked for privacy, and staff always respect my personal space.

I’m encouraged to decorate my room with my own photos, posters, and belongings so it feels like home. Staff can support me to keep my room clean and organised, helping me build independence and responsibility.

My bedroom is a place where I can relax, feel calm, and have time to myself, knowing support is always close by if I need it.

The Living Room – A Space to Relax Together

The living room is a shared space where I can relax, watch TV, listen to music, or spend time with others. It is comfortable and welcoming, with sofas, seating, a TV, and a calm environment to help everyone feel at ease.

This is a place where I can socialise, play games, or have quiet time, while learning how to share space respectfully with others. Staff are around to support positive behaviour, help with activities, and make sure everyone feels safe and included.

The living room is a space to feel comfortable, build confidence, and enjoy everyday moments, knowing support is always nearby if needed.

The Dining Area – Eating and Spending Time Together

The dining area is a shared space where I can sit down to eat, talk, and spend time with others. It has a table and chairs and is a comfortable place to enjoy meals and snacks.

This is where I can learn healthy eating habits, practise table manners, and enjoy positive conversations. Staff can support me with meal routines, planning food, and building confidence around eating and social skills.

The dining area is a place to slow down, feel included, and enjoy everyday moments together in a safe and supportive environment.

The Kitchen – Learning Skills for Everyday Life

The kitchen is a shared space where I can prepare food, make drinks, and learn how to cook safely. It is fully equipped with everything I need, including a cooker, hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, cupboards, and cooking equipment.

I’m supported to plan meals, shop for food, cook for myself, and clean up afterwards. Staff are available to help me learn new skills, follow food safety rules, and build confidence in the kitchen.

The kitchen is a place where I can learn independence, make healthy choices, and feel proud of what I achieve, with support always there when I need it.

The Toilet and Shower – Clean, Private, and Comfortable

The toilet and shower areas are clean, private spaces where I can take care of my personal hygiene and feel comfortable. They include a toilet, sink, mirror, and a shower, with hot water available at all times.

My privacy is always respected, and I’m supported to develop good hygiene routines and look after myself. Staff can offer help or reminders if I need them, in a respectful and supportive way.

These spaces help me feel fresh, confident, and ready for the day, knowing I’m supported while learning to manage my own personal care.

The Back Garden – Fresh Air and Time to Relax

The back garden is a safe outdoor space where I can get fresh air, relax, and take a break. It’s a place where I can sit outside, enjoy quiet time, or spend time with others in a calm environment.

I can use the garden to clear my head, feel calmer, and enjoy being outdoors. Staff are around to make sure everyone stays safe and to support positive use of the space.
