Building Trust and Feeling Safe

When I first arrive, staff take time to get to know me, listen to my story, and understand what I need. This stage is about building trust, helping me feel safe, and explaining what support is available. I’m supported to settle in, share my worries if I want to, and start feeling comfortable in my new home.

Emotional Support and One-to-One Help

Once I’m settled, I receive regular one-to-one support to talk about my feelings, challenges, and goals. This may include counselling support, emotional wellbeing sessions, or referrals to external professionals if needed. Staff help me learn ways to manage emotions, cope with stress, and make positive choices.

Building Confidence and Independence

As I grow in confidence, support focuses on helping me manage my emotions independently, make decisions, and plan for my future. I’m encouraged to use the skills I’ve learned and feel confident accessing support when I need it. This stage helps prepare me for independent living, education, work, and adulthood.

Our mentoring and support services vary depending on what is required. This could be personal services, such as help with maintaining a good social life, healthy eating etc. or helping develop interpersonal skills and confidence through mentoring.

We work closely with social workers and personal advisors, engaging in joint reviews to find better ways of supporting the individual while working in conjunction with their pathway plan. We offer counselling support and a range of therapies, helping care leavers and young people overcome difficulties they have experienced. These personalised services develop self-confidence and self-esteem within the individuals we support. This, then, helps them live independent, sustainable lives.

Life Skills Programme

This modular programme supports young people in developing the life skills they need to live independently. This programme covers the six critical areas mapped out in the government’s care leavers strategy:

Health and wellbeing,
Education and training,
Employment and citizenship,
Finances
Home and housing,
Safety and relationships
